Mission and vision workshop

As I transitioned to a new team with a new product focus, it was imperative I shared my deep knowledge of the space and champion our future work. I helped them redefine its product ownership over time. Through workshops and brainstorming sessions I fostered an inclusive environment.

Process

To foster alignment and clarity, I conducted a workshop where the team brainstormed and defined our team's mission and vision. To maintain focus within the 90-minute timeframe, I divided the workshop into smaller sessions. We began by establishing our team's mission, followed by exploring potential future directions based on our identified product focus areas. To establish a customer-centric mindset, I began the workshop by reviewing our target audience and the challenges we're solving for.

Mission

Our goal was to develop a mission statement that clearly defines our team's purpose and aligns with the company's broader goal of helping millions of companies grow better. By focusing on customer needs, primary users, key drivers, common user tasks, and competitive advantages, we identified core themes that would shape our team's mission.

Vision

Following the alignment on our team mission, we shifted our focus to discussing our current work and envisioning future possibilities. To spark brainstorming, I shared recent customer quotes from our research calls.

We centered our discussion on identifying key themes within our current work, such as who we support, areas outside the user setup process, and necessary guardrails. This led to a dynamic ideation session, generating ideas across our product focus areas and uncovering potential overlaps.
